시, 올해 전국대회 입상 선수단 격려

올해 군산체육을 빛낸 인재들이 한자리에 모였다.

군산시는 6일 시내 모처에서 올해 전국대회에서 우수한 성적으로 군산을 빛내 준 선수단을 초청, 격려하는 시간을 가졌다.

이날 행사에는 문동신 시장을 비롯 강병택 군산상고교장, 서규원 군산대야초교장, 진정권 군산시야구협회장, 선수단 등 100여 명이 참석했다.

이 자리에는 올해 봉황대기 준우승에 빛나는 군산상고 야구부를 비롯 소년체전 유일한 금메달을 안겨준 대야초탁구부, 은메달을 수상한 군산중야구부, 동메달에 동원중 김준홍, 옥구중 탁구부가 함께 했다.

이날 행사는 내빈과 선수단 소개, 입상팀 격려금 전달, 격려사, 만찬 순으로 진행됐다.

이 자리에서 문동신 시장은 “세계 1인자인 김연아 선수도 발이 문드러지고 상처투성이가 될 때까지 고된 노력을 참고 견뎌왔다”며, “여러분 또한 군산의 귀중한 보배로서 앞으로도 군산을 나아가 대한민국이 필요로 하는 인재로 성장해 줄 것”을 당부했다.

이어 “이제 역전의 명수는 상고만이 아닌 군산을 대표하는 브랜드밸류로 통용되고 있다”며, “열악한 상황에서 군산을 빛내주고 있는 여기 계신 모든분들이 진정한 역전의 명수”라고 고마움을 전했다.

특히 “군산시장으로서 여러분들에게 보다 좋은 환경을 제공해 주지 못한 점 항상 미안할 따름”이라며, “그러나 이제 시작이란 마음으로 다같이 노력해 나가자”고 당부했다.

참석자들은 “모처럼 군산체육이 전국에 위상을 드높인만큼 올해를 계기로 더욱 발전해 나가는 모습을 보여주자”라며, “충분한 기량을 발휘해 자기 분야에서 최고가 될 수 있도록 더 열심히 훈련에 임하겠다”고 밝혔다.
