금석배의 도시 군산에서 12일간 펼쳐진 전국 최대 중학교 축구잔치가 대단원의 막을 내렸다.
제46회 추계한국중등(U-15)축구연맹전이 지난 20일 고학년 각 그룹별 결승경기를 끝으로 폐막했다.
한국중등(U-15)축구연맹과 군산시체육회, 군산시축구협회가 주최∙주관한 이번 대회는 미래 축구 꿈나무의 육성, 발굴을 위해 매년 개최되고 있다.
이번 대회는 홈 팀인 제일중을 비롯 고학년 139개팀, 1학년 94개팀 등 총 233개팀이 출전, 역대 최대 규모로 치러졌다.
특히 선수들은 연일 지속되는 폭염속에서도 그라운드에서 그동안 갈고 닦은 기량을 마음껏 과시해 한국 축구의 미래를 밝게 했다.
고학년∙1학년 각 그룹별로 진행된 이번 대회에서 고학년 우승은 현대중이 신라중을 3대1로 꺾고 청룡그룹 우승을 차지했다.
또한 화랑그룹에서는 완주중이 안산부곡중을 2대1로 누르고 우승컵을 차지했으며, 충무그룹은 장흥중이 부산중앙중을 4대0으로 제압했고, 백호그룹은 숭실중이 문일중을 1대0, 마지막으로 봉황그룹은 한양중이 과천문원중과 0대0으로 비긴 뒤 승부차기에서 5대4로 이겼다.
이와 함께 1학년 부문에서는 포철중이 군포중을 3대0으로 제압하고 화랑그룹 우승을 차지했고, 충무그룹은 용마중을 2대0으로 제압한 순천매산중이, 청룡그룹은 문래중이 대월중을 1대0으로 물리치고 우승컵을 들어올렸다.
특히 이번 대회는 대회 기간 동안 선수단과 응원단, 학부모 등 약 2만 여명이 군산을 방문함에 따라 지역경제 활성화에도 톡톡한 몫을 했다.
백영식 군산시축구협회장은 “올해 대회는 당초 예상규모보다 많은 참가팀들이 출전했음에도 한국중등연맹과 전라북도축구협회, 군산시 등의 전폭적인 지원으로 성공리에 대회를 마무리 할 수 있었다”며, “앞으로도 금석배의 도시 군산의 축구발전을 위해 다양한 노력을 펼치겠다”고 밝혔다.
이번 추계연맹전의 그룹별 우승팀은 지난 2월의 춘계연맹전 우승팀과 연말에 왕중왕전을 펼쳐 한국 중등축구의 최강을 가리게 된다.
또 대회 우수선수는 이달 말 전남 강진에서 스페인의 FC바르셀로나, 포르투갈의 벤피카 등 8개 팀이 참가해 열리는 제5회 연맹회장 및 전남도지사배 국제축구대회 한국 대표로 청룡과 백호 팀에 선발된다.
