군산CC는 26일 퍼블릭 클럽 하우스에서 한상준 전주지방환경청장과 김춘동 군산CC 회장 등 골프장 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 친환경우수사업장 현판식을 가졌다.
이번 군산CC 친환경우수사업장 지정은 저탄소그린개발을 지향하는 사업장으로 친환경적개발을 통해 환경에 미치는 영향을 최소화하고 환경적으로 지속가능한 개발을 실천, 다른 사업장에 귀감이 되고 있는 데 따른 것이다.
그동안 군산CC는 대규모 골프장에서 자라나는 잔디를 깎아 이를 폐기물로 단순 처리하지 않고 모아 발효를 통해 잔디액비를 생산하고 이를 다시 골프장에 시비함으로써 농약과 화학비료를 적게 사용, 수질 및 토양오염을 방지하고 생태계의 복원을 도모해 인간과 자연이 어우러지는 친환경골프장을 조성해 왔다.
특히 지난해의 경우 2008년에 비해 농약사용량을 ha당 41.44kg에서 8.34kg으로 80%나 줄임으로써 잔디 및 토양에 잔류된 살충성분을 감소시켰으며 이로인해 골프장내에 서식하는 곤충류가 증가했고 먹이사슬이 형성돼 백로 등 사계절의 철새가 찾아오고 있다.
강신석 대표는 “친환경우수사업장의 지정과 함께 군산골프장은 골프장이 환경오염원이 아닌 친환경적인 시설이라는 인식전환에 기여할 계획”이라며 “이를 위해 전국 골프장에 군산골프장 잔디액비의 생산기술과 제품을 보급할 계획”이라고 말했다.
한편 군산골프장은 총 424만㎡(128만평)의 부지에 대중제 63홀, 회원제 18홀등 총 81홀규모로 전국 최대규모이며 연간 내장객은 36만여명에 이르고 있으며, 친환경우수사업장 지정기간은 2009년 12월 1일부터 오는 2012년 11월 30일까지로 3년간이다.
